South African Pork Kwai Half Marathon

Hills, wors and it was warm.

South African Pork Kwai Half Marathon

The route is two laps of fairly hilly roads through the residential area of Randburg. There were tons of people doing the race which made the start pretty slow going. There was enough parking on the fields of Randburg Sports Club. Water tables served coke and water which was enough for a half marathon. I enjoyed the South African Pork Kwai Half Marathon because it had some hills, if you’ve been reading my other posts I have been doing a couple flat races lately.

I didn’t start very well because of the sheer number of people, but found some speed later in the race. During the race I managed to catch the sub 2h bus which was quite big. I like the fact that a small half marathon race had a bus to help people manage their time. I managed a respectable 1h:55m for 21.1 km which is good considering the hills.

At the race finish we all got a voucher for a free wors roll from a Fruit and Veg City stand which was really nice after the race. I tried snapping some photos this time during the race. Some worked but it is actually pretty hard to take a decent snap while you running. Check them out I added them below.

My phone didn’t work well during the race and only recorded 18km, so I have some of the route here. GPX File
